What La Veleta is like
It is the part of town that grew last, so most of what stands here is recent: two and three storey houses set back behind gates, jungle on either side, and building plots still filling the gaps between them. That is the honest trade off, and in exchange you get more house for the money than anywhere closer to the sand.
Downtown is about five minutes by car, which puts the restaurants and the bars within an easy ride, and the beach is around fifteen. Not much is walkable yet, so plan on a car or a driver for everything except breakfast.
It suits bigger groups and longer stays: birthdays, bachelorette weeks, and families who would rather have a private pool and a cook than a short walk to a beach club.
