Private boat charters in Tulum

Private yacht and boat rentals in Tulum start from $1,550 per boat, with options for couples, families and groups of up to 30 people.

There is no yacht marina in Tulum itself. Our Tulum fleet leaves from Puerto Aventuras Marina, around 30–45 minutes north of Tulum by car. Private transportation to and from the marina can be arranged with the charter.

Every charter we currently offer includes a captain and crew, private chef, open bar and snorkeling equipment. You choose the boat, number of hours and type of day you want; we can organise the rest.

Tulum yacht parties and party boats

A yacht day works particularly well for groups because you have the entire boat to yourselves.

For a birthday, bachelor party or bachelorette in Tulum, we normally start by looking at the number of guests rather than simply choosing the biggest yacht.

For 15–30 guests, the Leopard PowerCat 51 is the obvious choice. A power catamaran gives a group more usable social space than a conventional motor yacht, so people can move between the shaded areas, front deck and water without everyone being concentrated in one place.

The Bali 40 is a good middle ground for 10–20: the space of a catamaran without moving up to the Leopard, with a flatter layout and shaded areas for a group that wants to eat, drink, swim and spend most of the day outside.

For smaller groups, families and more budget-conscious charters, the Aventura 34 is the smallest catamaran in the fleet. It still has the stability of a catamaran, without paying for significantly more boat than your group needs.

For celebrations, we can also arrange extras such as a DJ, decoration or celebration setup, transportation, photography and other requests, depending on the boat and date. Current charter packages price a bachelorette setup at $200 and a DJ from $400, confirmed when booking.

Catamaran rental in Tulum

For larger groups, a private catamaran in Tulum often makes more sense than a traditional motor yacht.

The main advantage is space. Catamarans are wider, generally feel more stable at anchor and give groups larger open areas for sitting, eating and moving around.

Our current Tulum catamarans are the Aventura 34, the Bali 40 and the Leopard PowerCat 51.

If you are celebrating with 15–30 people, we would usually look at these before the motor yachts.

If your group is smaller and you care more about the boat itself, speed or a more traditional layout, one of the Azimut, Cranchi or Sunseeker options may suit you better.

Luxury yachts in Tulum

If the boat itself matters more to you than deck space, look at the motor yachts.

The Sunseeker 60 is the largest traditional motor yacht in the current Tulum fleet. The extra length gives you more separation between indoor space, shaded seating and exterior areas, and longer charters can cover substantially more coastline, including routes toward Cozumel depending on the package and conditions.

The Azimut 58 works well for a medium-sized group that wants a conventional motor yacht with more space than the 43-foot option but does not need a catamaran.

The Cranchi Mediterranee 50 takes fewer guests than the others, which makes it one of the better options when boat size and space matter more than maximum capacity.

The Azimut 43 gives groups that do not need the deck space of a large catamaran a proper private yacht, without jumping immediately to the larger 50- and 60-foot options.

Tulum yacht rental prices

Charters are generally priced per boat, rather than charging every guest an individual ticket.

Across our current fleet, a 3-hour charter starts from $1,550, and the price rises with the boat and the hours. Current prices per boat:

  • Aventura 34: $1,550 for 3, $1,750 for 5, $1,950 for 6, $2,950 for 9 hours; extra hour $450
  • Bali 40: $1,750 for 3, $2,200 for 5, $2,400 for 6, $3,750 for 9 hours; overnight $7,500; extra hour $500
  • Azimut 43: $1,950 for 3, $2,050 for 5, $2,350 for 6, $3,500 for 9 hours; extra hour $450
  • Cranchi Mediterranee 50: $1,950 for 3, $2,200 for 5, $2,400 for 6, $3,750 for 9 hours; extra hour $500
  • Azimut 58: $2,450 for 3, $2,850 for 5, $3,250 for 6, $4,850 for 9 hours; overnight $9,700; extra hour $600
  • Sunseeker 60: $2,650 for 3, $3,050 for 5, $3,450 for 6, $5,200 for 9 hours; overnight $10,400; extra hour $650
  • Leopard PowerCat 51: $2,850 for 3, $3,300 for 5, $3,750 for 6, $5,650 for 9 hours; overnight $11,300; extra hour $700

The exact package matters. Current charter operators offer different service levels and durations rather than one universal four-hour package, so we confirm the boat, number of hours, included guests, menu and bar package before you pay.

There can also be costs beyond the base charter. On the current supplier rate sheet, a $20 dock fee per person and 10% maintenance and service fee are charged before boarding.

Each package includes a set number of guests, and additional guests and extra hours increase the total. Special routes and extras are priced on top of the charter:

  • Tulum and Akumal marine-park route: $550 park fee
  • El Cielo, Cozumel: $600–$1,400 with a tender, depending on group size, or $300 without one on a 9-hour charter
  • Dive and yacht: $450 per boat plus $95 per diver
  • DJ: $400 for 5 hours, $500 for 6 or $900 for 9
  • Bachelorette setup: $200
  • Private return transfer to Puerto Aventuras: from MX$2,400
  • Romantic dinner cruise for two: from $950

The important thing is to compare the final charter price, not just the number on the card.

Before confirming, we will tell you the boat price, charter duration, number of guests included, additional guest cost, applicable marina or park fees and any extras you have requested.

Where do Tulum yachts leave from?

There is no yacht marina in Tulum.

Private charters serving Tulum generally leave from Puerto Aventuras Marina, roughly 30–45 minutes north of Tulum by road. Multiple current Riviera Maya charter operators use Puerto Aventuras as the departure point for guests staying in Tulum.

That means the day actually starts with getting to the marina.

We can arrange a private vehicle from your villa or hotel, timed around the charter departure. For groups, this is usually easier than trying to organise multiple taxis and making sure everyone reaches Puerto Aventuras at the same time.

A private return transfer to the marina starts from MX$2,400 from Tulum Centro and MX$2,900 from the Hotel Zone.

If you are staying in the Hotel Zone, allow additional time during periods when traffic on the beach road is heavy.

Where do the boats go?

You do not need to spend the entire charter simply cruising up and down the coast.

A typical private boat day combines cruising with time at anchor for swimming, food, drinks and snorkeling. The exact route depends on how many hours you book, the yacht and conditions that day.

From Puerto Aventuras, shorter charters normally remain along the Riviera Maya coast and reef areas. Longer trips can cover more coastline, with options involving Akumal or other snorkel areas when conditions and access allow.

For a full-day charter, Cozumel can also become an option on selected boats. Current operators offer longer routes toward the island and experiences around areas such as El Cielo, with additional marine-park or tender costs depending on the package.

For something simpler, a sunset charter keeps the focus on the boat itself rather than trying to cover a long route.

Tell us what you actually want from the day (snorkeling, swimming, a celebration, lunch, sunset or a longer trip) and we can narrow down the boats and hours that make sense.

Yacht or catamaran?

Neither is automatically better.

A catamaran generally makes more sense for a larger group. You get a wider platform, more room to move around and good stability while anchored. For a birthday or bachelorette with 15–30 guests, that extra usable space normally matters more than a traditional layout.

A motor yacht works particularly well for couples, families and smaller groups that want more traditional styling, cabins and faster cruising.

For 20 people, we would look at the Bali 40 or Leopard PowerCat 51 before trying to squeeze the group onto a motor yacht designed for 10–15.

For eight people, the opposite may be true: an Azimut or Cranchi can give you more than enough space without paying for a 30-person boat.

Riviera Maya yacht charters

Tulum is only one starting point for planning a day on the water.

We also have boats departing from Cancún and Cozumel, so the best marina depends on where you are staying and what you want to see.

Guests staying in Tulum, Akumal or much of the central Riviera Maya will usually find Puerto Aventuras the most practical departure point. Cancún has its own fleet for trips farther north, while Cozumel makes sense when the island itself is part of the itinerary.

What if you want a smaller or cheaper boat?

The smallest private option in our current fleet is the 34-foot Aventura 34, starting from $1,550.

If your budget is substantially below that and you only want an hour or two on the water, a private charter probably is not the right product.

Tulum itself has smaller local boats used for activities such as fishing and snorkeling, but that is a different experience from a crewed private yacht or catamaran from Puerto Aventuras.

We would rather make that distinction clear than sell a small panga as though it were the same thing as a private yacht charter.

When is the best time for a yacht day?

Charters operate throughout the year, but the sea decides more than the calendar does.

Wind and wave conditions can change quickly, so we would pay more attention to the forecast close to your date than try to pick a date based on a supposedly perfect month.

If the harbour authority closes the marina or the captain considers conditions unsafe, current charter operators reschedule rather than taking the boat out in unsafe conditions.

Sargassum is also less important for a day on the water than for choosing a beach club. It can affect nearshore areas, but a charter can move away from the beach rather than leaving you on one stretch of sand all day.

Morning departures are often worth considering if swimming and snorkeling are the priority; sunset makes more sense if the atmosphere on board is the main reason for going.

What to bring

Bring swimwear, sunglasses, reef-safe sun protection and whatever you want for photos. Current charters provide towels, snorkeling gear, food, drinks and safety equipment, although inclusions should always be reconfirmed with the specific package before departure. Soft-soled shoes or going barefoot on deck is usually preferable.

Booking a yacht in Tulum

Send us your date, group size and what you want the day to look like.

We will narrow the fleet to the boats that actually fit the group, confirm the current package and final costs, and can arrange the transport to Puerto Aventuras as part of the same booking.

You do not need to work through ten boats yourself.

Tulum yacht rental FAQ

  • How much does it cost to rent a yacht in Tulum?
Our charter prices currently start from $1,550 per boat and rise depending on the yacht, duration and number of guests. The largest current Tulum option, the 51-foot Leopard PowerCat, starts from $2,850. Additional hours, guests, marina fees and special routes can increase the final price.
  • Is the yacht price per person or per boat?
The base charter price is per boat, not per person. Your group books the whole yacht privately. Each package includes a certain number of guests, and some boats charge an additional amount if you go above that included number up to the yacht's maximum capacity.
  • Where do Tulum yacht charters leave from?
Most private yacht charters for guests staying in Tulum leave from Puerto Aventuras Marina, around 30–45 minutes north by car. Tulum itself does not have a yacht marina suitable for these larger private charters.
  • What is included in a Tulum yacht rental?
Our current charters include captain and crew, a private chef, open bar and snorkeling equipment. Specific menus, bar levels, water toys and other inclusions depend on the charter package, so we confirm them before booking.
  • How many people fit on a yacht in Tulum?
The current Tulum fleet ranges from boats for around 10–12 guests to a 51-foot power catamaran for up to 30 people. By boat: Aventura 34, 15 guests; Bali 40, 20; Azimut 43, 12; Cranchi 50, 10; Azimut 58, 15; Sunseeker 60, 15; Leopard 51, 30.
  • Can we have a bachelorette, bachelor or birthday party on the yacht?
Yes. Private charters work particularly well for celebrations because the entire boat is reserved for your group. Larger catamarans such as the Bali 40 and Leopard 51 are especially useful for celebrations, and extras such as DJs, decorations, transport and photography can be arranged depending on the charter.
  • Can you go to Cozumel by yacht from Tulum?
Yes, on selected boats and longer charters. The yacht still leaves from Puerto Aventuras rather than Tulum itself. Cozumel routes require more time and can involve additional marine-park or tender fees, so tell us if Cozumel is the priority before choosing.
  • What happens if the weather is bad?
If conditions are unsafe or the port captain closes the marina, the charter should not depart. Current operators state that affected charters are rescheduled. Normal rain alone does not necessarily cancel a yacht day; the decision is based more on wind, sea conditions and official port restrictions.
  • How far in advance should I book a yacht in Tulum?
For a normal weekday, availability can sometimes remain close to the date. For larger boats, weekends, Christmas/New Year, January festival season and bachelor or bachelorette groups, booking earlier gives you much more choice of boats and departure times.
