Neek Tulum: A Freshwater Lagoon Club South of Town

Neek Tulum is a lagoon club, restaurant and bar on Laguna Nopalitos, around 20 to 30 minutes south of central Tulum. Its shore holds wooden docks, a floating deck, in-water hammocks, beanbag seating and tables facing the water. It is also pet-friendly and has free parking, showers and does not have public Wi-Fi.

Visitors come to swim, rest over the water or explore the lagoon by kayak and paddleboard. Fresh water makes it an alternative to the coast during periods of sargassum. Shade is limited across parts of the property, so prepare for direct sun during the middle of the day. Biodegradable sunscreen is required before entering the water to help protect the lagoon ecosystem.

Free Kayaks, Paddleboards and In-Water Hammocks

Kayaks and paddleboards are included with admission. Guests leave an ID as a deposit and receive it back when the equipment is returned. The wooden deck provides direct access to the water, while hammocks sit partly over or in the lagoon. Lounge seating and lagoon-front tables are also available for visitors who plan to stay through lunch or afternoon drinks. These facilities place swimming and paddling at the centre of the visit rather than treating them as side activities.

Weekend Lagoon Sessions and Second-Floor Wellness

Weekend Lagoon Sessions bring live DJ sets playing anything from organic house to more energetic sets. The programme adds music without changing the venue into a late-night club, as daily operations end in the early evening. A second floor is now used regularly for wellness activities, adding a separate space above the main waterfront level. The bar has also undergone improvements since some of the venue photography was taken. Some photos therefore show the earlier bar layout and do not include the second floor in its current use.

Wood-Grilled Chicken, Casual Plates and Craft Cocktails

The kitchen serves Mexican and globally inspired casual food. Sriracha chicken is the clearest signature dish, alongside burgers, guacamole, tortilla chips, salsa and grilled octopus. The bar prepares craft cocktails, fresh juices and other drinks. Food service means guests can spend the full day by the water without leaving for lunch. Premium seating includes lounges, beach beds and lagoon-front tables for those who want a reserved base close to the shore.

Entry Fees, Seating Minimums and Payment

General admission costs 300 MXN per person and includes access to the kayaks and paddleboards. Dock seating does not carry a minimum spend. Premium lounges, beach beds and lagoon-front tables have a 1,000 MXN minimum spend per person, applied in full as food and drink credit. The venue accepts Mexican pesos, US dollars, Visa and Mastercard.

How to Visit the Lagoon from Tulum

The venue opens daily from 10:30 AM to 7:00 PM. It sits near José María Pino Suárez on an unpaved road around 20 to 30 minutes south of town, and potholes can slow the final part of the drive. Free parking is available when you arrive. Advance reservations are recommended, especially if you want premium seating or plan to attend a weekend session.
