THE VERSA Leads a Five-Act Día de Muertos Lineup
THE VERSA headlines this Día de Muertos weekend edition of CEREMONIA at Gitano Beach. RENÉ, MAUBO, JOOR and PRAH complete the five-act lineup. Music runs from 6 PM until late on Saturday 31 October. The format connects dinner and mezcal service with DJ sets and a dance floor. It is a themed edition of Gitano’s regular Saturday party rather than a standard beach-club session.
Dinner First, Then a Full Saturday Dance Floor
CEREMONIA pairs a Mexican dinner menu with mezcal cocktails, music and dancing. For this edition, the series takes its theme from Día de Muertos and focuses on music, memory, life and connection. The evening begins around the table before moving toward the dance floor. Copal, candlelight, organic sounds, light and movement shape the transition. CEREMONIA’s Saturday Sound, From Tulum Outward
CEREMONIA began in Tulum and has since run in New York and Dubai. At Gitano Beach, it normally takes over Saturdays that do not fall on a full moon. The weekly format begins at 6 PM and connects a Mexican dinner menu, mezcal service, DJ sets and a dance floor. Its sound covers organic house, downtempo, afro house, electro house and disco. Afro-Latin rhythms and tribal percussion sit alongside slower organic selections and more direct dance records. Regular residents include Tiago Dima, Prah and Badaoui, with Prah joining this edition’s billed lineup.
Part of Gitano’s Wider Weekend Music Programme
Gitano Beach runs DJs from Thursday through Sunday in its regular weekly programme, normally beginning at 1 PM. Those sets range across deep house, tropical house, nu-disco, indie dance and melodic house. Other recurring sessions include Full Moon Rising, Gypsy Disco, Sunset Fiesta and Las Gitanas, while the Sunday Beach BBQ Fiesta combines daytime music and food. Past venue lineups have included Emanuel Satie, Savage & She, and Tom & Collins. GITANO Records also releases playlists, live recordings and DJ sets focused on organic house, deep house, downtempo and disco house. CEREMONIA gives that wider music programme a defined Saturday dinner-and-dance format.
A 120-Metre Beach Club Built for Groups
Gitano Beach occupies a 120-metre strip of sand beside Casa Gitano, near the Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve. Cushioned sunbeds, cabanas, bamboo benches and beach suites divide the space into different group settings. Black-and-white striped tipis provide shade, while handcrafted textiles and natural materials shape the lounge areas. A giant disco ball marks the venue’s shift from daytime service to dancing around sunset. The palapa covers an open-fire kitchen fitted with a wood-burning oven, grill and comal. Towels are available for a separate rental fee.
Mexican Cooking from the Grill and Comal
The venue’s regular menu combines modern Mexican cooking with Mediterranean touches. Chef Alexandros Gkoutsi’s open-fire kitchen handles grilled seafood, roasted meats, tacos and vegetable plates. Cochinita pibil tacos with habanero and salsa verde are a central dish. The wider menu includes Baja California hamachi tostada, aguachile, black truffle tlayuda, hummus and shishito peppers. Mezcal cocktails anchor the drinks programme, matching CEREMONIA’s dinner-first format.
