January 6, 2027 · Zamna Tulum
Black Coffee returns to Zamna Tulum on January 6, 2027, as part of the festival’s 10th-anniversary season.
The South African DJ has spent more than two decades developing a sound built around percussion, melody and slow-building sets rather than obvious drops. His productions and collaborations have taken that sound far beyond the underground, working with artists including Drake, Alicia Keys, David Guetta, Pharrell Williams and Usher, while his album Subconsciously won the Grammy for Best Dance/Electronic Music Album.
His Tulum appearances have become a regular part of January festival season, but Black Coffee’s sets tend to feel different from the more production-heavy shows on the calendar. The focus is usually on long transitions, rhythm and building the room gradually over several hours.
For January 6, he returns as the headline act with the rest of the lineup still to be announced.
What Black Coffee sounds like
Black Coffee’s sound has its roots in South African house, but his sets move well beyond a single genre.
Expect Afro-house percussion, deep and melodic house, vocals and longer atmospheric passages, with tracks given time to develop rather than being mixed quickly from one peak moment to another.
That approach has made him one of the most internationally recognised DJs to emerge from South Africa and a regular headliner at major clubs and festivals around the world.
At Zamna, the open-air jungle setting suits that slower progression particularly well, especially as the night moves from early sets into the later hours.

What to expect from Black Coffee at Zamna
Black Coffee’s sets typically move through Afro-house, deep house and melodic electronic music, with long transitions and a slower, more patient build than many of the heavier nights on the Zamna calendar.
That makes January 6 a different proposition from Anyma’s audiovisual AEDEN show on January 4 or Adriatique’s X concept on January 8. Rather than being built around a branded production concept, the focus is likely to be much more directly on Black Coffee and the supporting artists Zamna chooses around him.
Black Coffee is already closely associated with Zamna. He was part of the festival’s previous Tulum seasons and was chosen to close the 2026 edition on January 11. Zamna also lists him among the major artists who have shaped its first decade in Tulum.
