Cenote Zamna: A Private Jungle Cenote and Eco-Hotel
Zamna is an 11-hectare jungle property at km 200 on Highway 307, roughly 5 km south of central Tulum in the Aldea Tulum corridor. It was re-consecrated in 2017 under the name of the Mayan god of wisdom. At its center is a natural freshwater cenote, filtered and open for swimming, kayaking, paddleboarding and snorkeling when no event is running. Around it the site holds a pool that faces a stage set among the trees, and a ring of eco-cabins along the water.
This is not a public swimming cenote you drop into on a spare afternoon. Access to the cenote and pool is tied to staying in the eco-cabins or attending one of the ticketed events the property hosts each winter.
The Cenote, the Pool and the Eco-Cabins
Each eco-cabin has a king bed, a private terrace, air conditioning, a maxi-bar and a private shower, oriented toward the cenote and the island stage. Breakfast is included, and the front desk arranges yoga and massage. The trade-off is remoteness: the site is far from the beach and town, so you will need your own transport to come and go.
The Winter Festival Nights
The property is best known for the electronic music series it stages here each winter, from late December through mid-January. The season is not one ticket: each night is a separately ticketed event built around a single brand or headliner. Over the years the cenote and pool stages have hosted Afterlife, Tomorrowland's CORE stage, Keinemusik, ARTBAT, Black Coffee, RÜFÜS DU SOL and the Mayan Warrior art car, among others. Production is the signature, with monolithic LED structures, lasers and large-scale lighting across the jungle pads and the pool stage.
Getting There and Booking Your Visit
The venue sits off Highway 307 outside town, about 5 km from central Tulum, so getting there takes planning. Taxis from town or the beach charge steep and inconsistent fares on event nights, so many people use local shuttle buses, rent an ATV or scooter, or stay in the adjacent Aldea Tulum developments within reach. If you drive, budget for on-site parking and arrange a sober ride home. This is one of the more logistics-heavy cenotes in Tulum to reach, so sort your transport before the night rather than after.
