Saturday, January 9, 2027 · Tulum, Mexico · Sunset to sunrise

Day Zero returns to the Tulum jungle on January 9 for its 2027 edition, Begin Again. Created and selected by Damian Lazarus, the festival brings 30 announced artists across 3 stages, with one more special guest still to be revealed. The music runs through the night from sunset into sunrise. Exact gate times, set times, and the final stage schedule have not yet been published.

This is one of the Tulum events where the setting matters as much as the names on the poster. The stages sit deep in the jungle, with large-scale production, live performance, art, fire, ceremony, and spaces built into the natural surroundings. Day Zero also works with local Maya spiritual leaders, who have been part of the event since its early editions.

Day Zero Tulum 2027 lineup

The 2027 lineup moves between house, techno, minimal, live electronic music, and the harder-to-label sounds Day Zero has always made room for.

&ME · Antaares · Badwolf · Brunello · Chloé Caillet · Culoe De Song · Damian Lazarus · Dan Ghenacia · Deer Jade · Hardt Antoine · Jane Fitz · Jawar · Jhony Chief (Live) · Katana · KinAhau · LP Giobbi · LUM · Mary Jane · Mira · Mita Gami · Rafael · Robag Wruhme · RPR Soundsystem (Raresh, Rhadoo & Petre Inspirescu) · Satori (Live) · Secret Echoes (Live) · Soul of Hex · Tiga · Victor Calderone · Vintage Culture · Wadley (Live)

Plus one very special guest still to be announced.

There are obvious headline names in &ME, Vintage Culture, LP Giobbi, Tiga, Victor Calderone and Mita Gami, but some of the more interesting bookings sit elsewhere on the bill. Jane Fitz and Dan Ghenacia bring the deeper club side; RPR Soundsystem reunites Romanian minimal figures Raresh, Rhadoo and Petre Inspirescu; Satori and Secret Echoes appear live; and Damian Lazarus returns as both founder and performer.

Day Zero will also bring back El Teatro, its stage focused on Mexican electronic music. The festival has used it to give local artists their own part of the programme rather than placing a handful of Mexican names around an otherwise international lineup.

The special guest

Holding back part of the lineup has become a Day Zero habit.

For 2025, Michael Bibi was announced later as a special guest, followed by Solomun, whose Day Zero debut was revealed only the day before the festival.

The 2026 edition followed the same idea, adding Mahmut Orhan and then Marco Carola as special guests after the original lineup announcement.

For 2027, the poster once again leaves one name open as “Very Special Guest.” No clues have been confirmed yet.

What to expect

Day Zero is not set up like a standard one-stage Tulum party. The 2027 edition has 3 stages, so the night is designed to be moved through rather than watched from one position. Alongside the music, previous editions have included live performers, ceremony, art installations and smaller areas away from the main stages.

The surroundings are part of the experience. The jungle, caves, cenotes and naturally formed spaces around the site have influenced how Day Zero has been designed since its move into the Tulum area.

Day Zero also runs environmental and community projects around Tulum. Its recent work includes installing 80 solar street lights in Dos Ojos, organizing microplastic beach cleanups and maintaining a plastic-free market inside the event.

  • Where did Day Zero start?
The first Day Zero took place on December 20–21, 2012. Damian Lazarus and Crosstown Rebels built the 24-hour event around the end of the 13th b'ak'tun of the Maya Long Count, the date that became widely associated with the so-called end of the Mayan calendar. Lazarus was clear at the time that he saw it less as an apocalypse and more as the beginning of a new chapter. The original event ran for 24 hours at a site near Playa del Carmen, with Jamie Jones, Acid Pauli, Trentemøller, Art Department, James Lavelle, Francesca Lombardo and Lazarus himself among the artists. What was planned as a one-off event stayed alive. Day Zero eventually found its long-term home in the jungle around Tulum and became an annual January fixture. The format has grown, but the basic idea is still recognizable: underground electronic music through the night, a setting built into the landscape, and sunrise as part of the event rather than the signal to go home.
  • Who is behind Day Zero?
Day Zero was created by British DJ, producer and Crosstown Rebels founder Damian Lazarus, who still selects the lineup and plays the festival each year. His early-morning sets have become part of Day Zero’s identity, and the festival currently hosts a full recording of his 2024 sunrise set on its official site. There is also a long-standing production team behind what happens away from the DJ booth. Experience Director Eden Schroder has helped shape the art, décor and hidden areas, while Carlos Lopez, Head of Production & Operations, oversees the technical and logistical side of the event. Both have been involved with Day Zero since its early years.
  • What time does Day Zero start?
Day Zero describes the 2027 event as running from sunset to sunrise. The final opening time and artist set times have not yet been released. It is worth treating this as an all-night event rather than planning another party afterwards. Previous editions have run well into the morning, with Lazarus traditionally appearing during the later part of the night as daylight approaches.
  • Where is Day Zero in Tulum?
Day Zero takes place in the jungle outside Tulum. The event has long been associated with the Cenote Dos Ojos area, north of town, and the official 2027 event listing on Facebook currently points to Cenotes Dos Ojos. The main Day Zero website is more general for now and lists the location simply as Tulum, Mexico and the Tulum jungle. If you are attending, wait for the official arrival and transport instructions rather than relying on a map pin. Access to a jungle event works differently from arriving at a normal club or festival venue.
