Taboo Tulum: Beach Party in the Hotel Zone

Taboo Tulum is a beachfront day-party venue and Mediterranean restaurant at kilometer 7 of the Tulum-Boca Paila road. Part of Grupo RosaNegra, it combines a central swimming pool with wooden lounge beds, cabanas, tipis, bars and separate VIP areas. Guests can move between the beach, pool deck, outdoor restaurant and reserved seating throughout the day. The venue is open daily from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM.

What separates it from many Tulum beach clubs is its commercial music policy. Resident DJs play hip-hop, Latin house, reggaeton, electronic music and reggae rather than focusing on the house sound common along the coast. The production and bottle-service format feel closer to Miami or Las Vegas.

Pool Parties, Resident DJs and Live Performers

The party centers on the pool and becomes busiest during the afternoon. Resident DJs play music, while live saxophone and violin players perform over selected songs. Fashion shows and bottle parades add scheduled bursts of activity around the tables and pool deck. The venue relies on its in-house performers rather than regular appearances by famous headliners.

The atmosphere is social and performance-led, with staff encouraging guests to join the dancing and bottle celebrations. Guests who want the full pool-party format should arrive before the busiest part of the afternoon. Those who prefer more space can choose a weekday or arrive near opening time.

Mediterranean Seafood, Pasta and Four-Element Cocktails

The kitchen focuses on Mediterranean seafood, fresh fish and handmade pasta. Its range includes sushi, ceviches, aguachiles, carpaccios and tartares, followed by wood-fired fish and dishes from the seaside grill. Named plates include sun-dried octopus and Nordic salmon. Vegan options are available alongside the main seafood menu.

The bar serves signature cocktails based on the four elements of water, earth, fire and air. Champagne bottle service is part of the table program, and shisha is also available. Food and drinks ordered during a day-pass visit count toward the consumption credit attached to the reserved area. Current low-season restaurant service finishes at 7:00 PM, with dinner service after that time temporarily suspended.

Sunbed, Cabana and Lounge Prices

Beach access uses prepaid seating with a partial food and beverage credit. Sunbeds start at 2,000 MXN for one person. Cabanas start at 9,500 MXN for four people, while lounges start at 14,500 MXN for six. Half of the prepaid amount is credited toward food and drinks during the visit. The remaining half covers access and use of the selected area.

VIP areas include cabanas, tipis, lounges and islands, and these require full prepayment when reserved. Day access includes umbrellas, towels, the swimming pool, WiFi, restrooms, changing rooms and showers. The spa, massage bar and boutique come at additional cost. Restaurant-area reservations do not carry the beach club cover, making them separate from the day-pass structure.

Reservations, Arrival Rules and Weather Policies

Advance reservations are recommended for weekends and peak periods. Prepaid VIP bookings have a latest reservation time of 2:00 PM and allow a one-hour grace period. Restaurant bookings have a 15-minute grace period and remain subject to availability if guests arrive late. Additional people beyond a VIP area's included capacity must pay the standard lounger cover when they arrive. Half of that added cover is also credited toward food and drinks.

Prepaid bookings are non-refundable for cancellations and no-shows. If bad weather affects the day, guests can request a date change subject to availability. Outside food and drinks are not allowed. Credit card payments require valid identification, and valet parking is available at the property.

Plan Your Day

The venue sits on Carretera Tulum-Boca Paila at kilometer 7 in the Hotel Zone. It opens every day at 11:00 AM, and beach club access continues until 7:00 PM. Arriving near opening gives you more time to use the pool, beach facilities and consumption credit before daytime service ends. An afternoon arrival places you closer to the resident DJ sets, live performers and larger pool crowd. Current low-season restaurant service also ends at 7:00 PM.

Choose a sunbed for one person or reserve a cabana or lounge for a group. Remember that only 50% of the prepaid amount can be spent on food and drinks. Book Taboo Tulum through its venue page on Tulum Bible, especially for a weekend or prepaid VIP area. Confirm the selected area's capacity and arrival time before completing the reservation.
