Dinner at Sunset, Dancing After Dark
Mera Room x | Weekend brings dinner, cocktails and a beach party to Gitano Beach Tulum. The night starts around sunset and moves into dancing after dark. ALL MATTER, DHAF and KARLA MERCEDES provide the DJ programme. You can arrive for food and drinks, stay through sunset and follow the music into the late-night session. Tickets start at MXN $190.
ALL MATTER Leads the Three-DJ Programme
ALL MATTER headlines the night, with DHAF and KARLA MERCEDES also playing. The party is billed from 7 PM until late, following the event’s 6 PM start. Mera Room describes a gradual change in pace, from relaxed sunset moments to a higher-energy session after dark. Gitano Beach regularly hosts DJs from Thursday through Sunday, with sets spanning deep house, tropical house, nu-disco, indie dance and melodic house. Its recurring programme includes Full Moon Rising, Gypsy Disco, Sunset Fiesta and Las Gitanas.
120 Metres of Sand and a Giant Disco Ball
Gitano Beach occupies a 120-metre strip of sand in the southern Hotel Zone. Cushioned sunbeds, cabanas and bamboo benches sit beneath palms and black-and-white striped tipis. A giant disco ball marks the shift from daytime beach club to evening dance floor. The venue opened in February 2021 and now sits beside Casa Gitano, near the Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve. It belongs to Grupo Gitano, which also operates venues in Miami, New York and Dubai.
Wood-Fired Mexican Food Before the Party
The open-fire kitchen works with a wood-burning oven, grill and comal. Chef Alexandros Gkoutsi’s menu combines Mexican cooking with Mediterranean influences. Cochinita pibil tacos with habanero and salsa verde cost 320 MXN, while aguachile is 425 MXN and the Baja California hamachi tostada is 380 MXN. Other options include hummus at 220 MXN, shishito peppers at 280 MXN and black truffle tlayuda at 550 MXN. Food labels identify gluten-free, nut-free, vegetarian and dairy-free dishes, and guests with dietary restrictions should speak to their waiter.
Mezcal Cocktails From Sunset Onward
Mezcal sits at the centre of the drinks programme. Kisses in the Car combines mezcal, rum, passion fruit and tangerine habanero. Gipsy Disco 75 mixes vodka, rosé prosecco, elderflower and lime. Other drinks use ingredients such as burnt pineapple and salvaged lime husks. Dinner and cocktails form the early part of the Mera Room format before the focus moves toward the DJs and dancing.
